obviously the distance class of 2023 made huge marks in high school running environment regarding both times and media. Which incoming freshman will have the biggest impact in NCAA XC next season? discus.
i believe that leo young should transition well. his 8k us champ u20 xc and 16th finish at world cross showed he can handle longer distances. Excited to see how he stacks up in the ncaa. Lex will probably transition similarly since they do all their training together. I also think gorze is a dark horse pick but he’s been going for the longer distances in track and podiumed at Nxn.

Neither will be a factor at nationals. Burns will run impressively in the early season and make their NCAA team, then blow up and finish outside the top 150 at nationals. Birnbaum wont make varsity until 2024 or 25.
Any thoughts on how Carson Noecker will do? He will be running for SDSU
He dominated every race but hasn’t faced any real competition.

“A four-time state cross country champion, Noecker finished last fall's season unbeaten for the third straight year. The South Dakota State University recruit was named the Gatorade Boys Cross Country Player of the Year in Nebraska.”
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Carson Noecker broke a 56-year-old state record last week, even as the standout long distance runner from Hartington Cedar Catholic crossed the finish line second.
I am predicting that all of NC State's incoming women distance runners are going to red-shirt this XC season. Might see a couple, perhaps, run locally "unattached" (not in NC State kit) at the local meet here in a couple weeks in Cary.

By then 2-3 will already be considering transferring

Why so? Will be plenty of opening next season on the WXC team with Tuohy, Chimel, and Bush having exhausted eligibility that will open at least 3-slots in the T7.

If they show well in Cary, there is also an "open" race at the Joe Piane where Hartman ran attached last year.
Why would you be shocked if it was 4 miles? The 5k course at Augie Twilight was spot on with the HS kids’ GPS watches. I would assume the 4 mile course was on as well, though I didn’t walk it off with a wheel. Are college meets typically off distance? Regardless. Noecker front ran the entire race, all by his lonesome. He gapped the field pretty big like 1k into the race.
NAU Freshman Emma Stutzman ran sub-15 George Kyte, stayed with Elise Stearns and Ruby Smee for most of the race. First race at altitude can be daunting but she seemed to handle it no problem
she ran unattached so still unsure if she redshirts or not. but she definitely makes a case for herself to run this season.

Nice race, but she is from CO, ~5,500 feet, no? Not quite 7,000 but....Smee is new to altitude tho, right?
