Some of the best in the country/world are competing right now at Stumptown, yet Western States has 17x the viewers. Still people say 5ks are too long for people to want to watch.

That's only 12000 different views over 9 hours. It's probably the same people counted a couple times.

try comparing to NCAAs.
That's definitely not how that works. I think YouTube updates live viewers every 2 minutes.
Western States has horrible streams as well.
Doesn’t seem all that interesting to me tbh. Western States is a much, much bigger deal in ultra running than Stumptown Twilight is in track. Don’t act like Stumptown was better than it was.

It is not great because current technology (lack of cell phone reception) in most areas along the course does not allow for good video. A lot of the race updates come in through ham radio — seriously.
Links please?
I didn't even know the Stumptown twlight was going on. If I don't even know about the meet, and it's my job to follow pro running, how is the average viewer?
But even if I did know it was on, why would I watch it? Watch practice or watch a grand slam of the ultra scene?

It was a surprisingly good meet! there should be more meets like this. Star studded.
Konstanze Klosterhalfen doubled in the 800/1500. Cole Hocker did the same, but I guess he dropped out in the last lap of the 1500, which made it look like he was just pacing it. Sinclaire Johnson blew away the 1500m women's field by 10 seconds. Connor Burns attempted the high school 5K record. Dan Watcke set a new Illinois high school record and PR 1.47.70 in the 800m.
