Have been mostly in base so (x2) threshold-focused but ran a hard-ish (5k around 10k) effort last Saturday to get something faster. First 3k were slightly slower, 4th was around 10k, and the 5th was around true 5k effort (last 1k was 2:52 over hills (net uphill)) and felt very easy. I also closed a workout with 4x300 in 50.9, 48.0, 46.0, and 44.3. Is 4:15 a good goal?
Threshold workouts, in order, have been: 2x8x1k around 3:18, 15x1k around 3:20, 12x1k around 3:15, 2x8x1k around 3:12, etc. Also have done 12x200 around 5k pace (I know it's not a strenuous workout, but this has accurately predicted my fitness later) with an honest ~55s 200m jog averaging 34 mid and 16x200 averaging 32.5 with a slight cutdown off, admittedly off massive rest (1:30). These were to get faster paces in my legs without going 'lactic'.
Note - based on previous results, I'm expecting to come through around 2:10-2:11 (half mile) as it's often tactical. Should my strategy be to relax through 800 and view the race as starting there?
