He ran 3:28.32 in an olympic final after 2 hard rounds, he ran 3:46.46, can run low 12:40s, and is olympic champion and world champion. Why does everyone doubt him he is pushing the sport continuously and we should all support him.

Because the guy who ran 7:58 ran 3:29 and 12:39 and was better at 3k/2 miles than any other event. And because many other greats have given it a shot and run 8:01+
Well if the record is as tough as others have been saying (bekele, geb, farah have come up short) then it'd take the performance of his career so far to take it down. I really want to see it and his pb's are in line for it so we'll see.
The conditions and the pacing have to be right, and of course he needs to be in his best shape. But everyone in Norway believe Jakob is a better 3.000 runner than 1.500 meter runner, and he is much better know than when he ran 7,27 in Rome. Jakob also wouldn’t do this race, six days before Bislett, if he didn’t think he could crush the record. Anyway, this is a test before taking on Komen’s 3.000 meter record in the fall, or maybe next spring, I think.
Even if Jakob breaks the record, he won’t hold it for long before Nuguse smashes it!!
I’m confident it can be done. Chep definitely could have the day he ran 12:35.
It’s impossible for us to tell. He could be in 8:10 shape or WR shape right now. Only he and his coach now it’s going to be like 2 weeks after his 3:32 1500 race.
If he does get it, it's because
A) 7:58 is softer than it looks. 7:20 is equivalent to more like 7:53 than 7:58. If you can tick off 7 1/2 sub-59 400s, you can muster 33 for another 218m. 7:58 is more like 7:24, which several have done, though most with the indoor advantage.
B) he can't get the 1500m or mile record and is never going to try. That's the only reason to waste time chasing an off distance. He could be done by injury or age at any time, so strike while the iron is hot.
Get offended, cope, whatever, I tell it like it is. Jakob's the best 1500 runner around now, no doubt there, if it makes you happier.
He'll finish his career with no world records.
Hmph.
Here I mistakenly thought he was going for the 7:20
Oh well, more power to him.

Now I get really worried! Jakob normally does the opposite of what BW predicts!
So when BW already seems to explain how this WR is weak he is possibly in his own cryptic way predicting that it will go down.
Hopefully Jakob can break the spell.
On the other hand: BW´s predictions for the 1500m and mile WRs make it most likely that Jakob will break these records!

He already has one.
And the number one reason he will get the record is:
NORWEGIAN NECTAR!!
There's a reason why Komen's records have stood so long. If Jakob isn't on what Komen was he won't take any of his records.
Has there been any word of who's pacing the attempt?
Also, is the consensus that Jakob has to even or slightly positive split this to break the record? Komen had two sub 8s, one he was over 4 and then negative split enough to get the sub 8. Could Jakob go out right at 4 and negative split to a world best?

They were strong when set.
The 2 Miles mark is the weakest of all the men's track records. Definitely within the reach of Ingebrigtsen. Tomorrow? Let's wait and see.

Already has the indoor 1500m WR
