my 5k pr is 16:22 (xc) from ~10 years ago:
- i was running ~ 80 km/week but felt terrible with that volume
- i ran mostly 16:30–16:50 races then
in recent years, i've been running 3–4 days per week for 16–24 km volume and had the following results:
- ran ~17:20 twice
- ran 17:40–17:55 five or six times
most recent result:
- ~17:40 after six weeks of running 16 km/week in four 4km runs (10 mpw) and no workouts
sadly, i can't increase volume without my body instantly feeling overtrained
is it better to keep running 10 mpw and occasionally race for fun in the hopes that maybe one day i can run more again? or is the overtraining feeling at such low volume a sign to not run?
