Does anyone know how much it costs to hire someone(s) to run Hytek and Finish Lynx systems for a one day track meet with about 350-400 runners? I don't need anything fancy like big displays, just electronic timed results.

It depends...If everything is set-up and ready to go including all the entries entered in to Hytek then you could get someone for @$400. If you want them to take it from start to finish including data entry your looking at about $1500.
Thanks Catman. Can anyone give me a high/low range to expect? Is $1,500 the average? High? Low? I appreciate the help.
One of, if not the best timer in the Northeast will do finishlynx(with back-up camera & color primary) and Hytek for a meet that size for about $600-800 (minus travel expenses). These results are also 100% free of error. If you're paying $1500, you better atleast get a big video board and real-time results to the net.
contact them directly. How? Look at results from your area and see who is doing them. Most will have either phone number and or email address on banner of results. If they are too busy, they can refer someone else to you.
You can also contact FinishLynx directly and they can provide you with a list of local operators. Get the contact info from their web site
Can Leon explain how every meet I've ever attended that he has timed runs late? How about Maryland two weeks ago? 2+ hours behind schedule and from the mouth of the person running his system "no changes!" You get what you pay for in this case.
A finishlynx pro will not really be able to do Hy-Tek. Someone else will have to. But the new Hy-tek is simple enough that someone can basically pick up from scratch.
If the Finishlynx guy knows this, you might ask him to bill an extra $100 or 200 more to help oversee the Hy-Tek. Again, they can't afford to do it entirely by themselves, but they can help guide someone through it. And a good Finishlynx person should know Hy-Tek very well.
If that's the case, $500-800 is reasonable for a one day meet of that size.
How about UNC two years ago. I've never went back because of Leon's timing, or lack there of. More races than not got recalled after the athletes ran the first 50M-80M of the race. I for one would never hire Leon's company to time a meet. He's inflexible and has no concern with a time schedule. Just my .02 cents.
To Ohh no and Raleigh,
Leonetiming.com did not time the Maryland or the UNC meets. Check the results of the meets and it should say who the timer was. You can go to Leonetiming.com and look in his results and see that he did not time them.

I find it amazing that people can post stuff on websites and not have a clue - especially when the info they talk about is not verifiable. I will post a VERIFIABLE truth - which means it is senseless to post my real name.
LEONE TIMING DID NOT TIME THE MEETS MENTIONED ABOVE.
Now will you two people please do what no one on these boards ever do - APOLOGIZE for making false and misleading statements which could hurt this small company's business. Talk to any coach in Central New York and they will tell you how awesome a comapny Pat Leone runs.
If anyone wants to call me to get a reference for Pat Leone and his Timing Group, please go ahead. I'm Director of Marketing at Lynx, and we think so highly of Pat Leone that we tried to hire him to work for us. He declined because he enjoyed the work he was doing with his own company so much.
Pat is a first class FinishLynx operator.
All the best,
Giles
