Having started his 800 season with an easy 1:45 win, I think this guy is one to watch on world stage this year.
10.9 and 21.7 at age 17 and then 46, 1:44, 3:39, Commonwealth medal at age 20 last year. Another year of maturity and training now and surely he's got to be after 1:43 low.
Who else is out there that might step up to challenge Wanyonyi and the others already at the top? With Korir not looking great and obviously Amos, Brazier way out of the picture, it seems an event ripe for some new names.
Tbf Korir almost never looks great outside of major championships these days. He’ll probably turn up at World’s
yeah you're right, got to assume he knows what he's doing at this point.
still; intrigued by who is out there that might step up and be the next stars. everyone could see brazier coming a mile away and there are no shortage of 1500/5000 guys with world class potential.
sad to see the event stagnating post-rudisha. want to see 42s and low 43s all over the place again.
As ever, Max Burgin. He'll probably drop a 1:43 in a month then won't race again until next year. Or maybe he'll have a full season for once
Somebody said he is running in Paris on June 9th. Hopefully, this will be the season he puts all his injury problems and bad luck behind him.
Does anybody know if Oliver Dustin is fit and healthy? It would be great if he could get back to his 1:43 form of a couple of years ago, then we would have 3 real contenders.
It looks like Elliot Giles and Daniel Rowden might be done.
I predict Burgin, Pattison, and Ethan Hussey (if he can make the qualifying standard) to make the team for Budapest. I assume Jake Wightman won't be doubling.

Giles hasn't quite looked like he has the gears for a while, maybe he should move up.
Wouldn't write off Rowden (or Webb), and Sharman-Newell, Bizimana, Reardon look dangerous. Fingers crossed for Hussey but from a distance looks like he'll ultimately be stronger at 1500, I don't see him making a senior GB team yet.

1) pattison qualified for world champs, ran 1:44.02 pb today. no "1:43 low" yet but keep your eye on this guy
2) giles seems to have moved up and has qualified for world champs over 1500, running 3:30 today
3) rowden won gb trials, set a pb, headed to world champs
4) hussey didn't make senior gb team, still think he looks a world class 1500m prospect
5) the guys i was looking for in my first post: kelvin kimutai and will sumner?

1) pattison still improving, world medallist, now 1:42 low and ahead of coe at same age
5) no sign of either of these guys this summer
6) it's all gone crazy in the last couple of weeks hasn't it? wanyonyi with two sub 1:42 and he's still 19. sedjati frankly unbelievable. tual, cheminingwa, kinyamal, attaoui, crestan, kidali, hoppel, arop bunched together
7) while sedjati has had an unbelievable season, wanyonyi is still the biggest talent. sedjati never running sub 1:43 again after this season would not surprise me. wanyonyi not running sub 1:42 again would be stunning
8) quite apart from the possibility/probability of doping: the newest spikes are helping a bit, the emergence of some elite guys willing to take the pace is dragging everyone else to fast times...and i think the pro 800 field is embracing the gut palatable buffering products like the maurten bicarb system
