Looking to race a 10km race for the first time in a couple of weeks, seeing if any experienced LRC's could provide some strategy for how to tackle the 10k as I haven't raced one.
Training background: Running 35-45mpw with 20-40mins of cross training a day and weight lifting mixed in. I have a Daniel's book that I have been loosely following.
Recent runs/workouts:
Workout 1: 5kM Tempo - 16:30
Workout 2: 2mi threshold (10:30), 4x400 ~68avg, 2mi threshold (10:30) all about 90s avg
Workout 3: 1mi Tempo (5:20), 4x200, 2x400, 1x800, 2x400, 4x200 (all half distance recovery, @4:36 pace avg), 1mi tempo (5:20).
Long runs of 10-13 miles at about 5:55-6:10 avg.
Thinking about just mixing in quite a few hill workouts over the next few weeks with a lot of easy runs?
