I am a junior in highschool and I am often made to double at county meets, conferences etc.. I always run pretty good on the first race, but in the second race I run like someone totally different and perform terribly. For example just recently I set a new pb of 4:42 in the 1600 but when I came back for the 3200 I felt awful and barely broke 10:50 when ive split that during the 5k in cross. Granted it was hot and windy, but this has happened in indoors as well. How do I get better at doubling? Is it higher mileage? any advice lrc?
I run 35 mpw average peaking at 40 a few times per season, run 6 days a week
2:08, 4:42, 10:30 (solo), 17:12 5k xc (semi flat course)
