You should probably find a new sport. One that doesn't allow shoes. I'm sure cleats ruined soccer. Did spikes ruin sprints? I can only imagine what you would think of changes in skiing. Man bikes were way better without gears.

OK. I guess you don't like it when shoes come out with a new model that is improved? Regular shoes today are much better than those from 20 years ago. Is that a problem too?

Nope - do your research. After the emergence of synthetic in '68, it took 6 years for the men's 5000m WR to be broken (by .2 seconds), 7 years for the men's 10000m WR to be broken (by less than a second), and 8 years for the men's mile WR to be broken (by .1 second). Ron Clarke and Jim Ryun never ran faster times than they did on cinder - despite the fact that they raced on both cinder and synthetic. Ryun's 3:51.1 was on cinder.
Now, compare the emergence of synthetic to what we've seen in the last 3 years since the release of super shoes. There is absolutely no comparison.

Spikes came out in the 1890s. None of those sports have anything to do with distance running. But, yeah, try using a corked bat in the MLB. Can't wait for rotating tracks - then we can all be fast - well, in comparison to those that didn't have the chance to run on rotating tracks.

They might be more confortable, but they're not going to get you a 20-second PR in a 5000m - which is the reason no one is wearing them.
Everyone in the race gets to use the same track. Richie rich kids get to use technology other kids might not be able to afford.
That was one of the reasons the super-swimsuits got banned.
If you can afford to train in and replace shoes that often it's a big advantage.

They are example of how all sports change. It happens. Stop with the "get off my lawn" old man takes and move on with your life. Every single sport changes and improvements are made to the technology of it.
