Marathon kenyans don't need to lift weights because their body/ muscle groups have been adequately stabilized and functioning throughout their entire lives from walking, running, playing sports, working and little convenience. This is unlike Americans who sit around all day inside, which is not necessarily adequate for a pristine level of musculoskeletal development. They need to compensate by hitting the weights.
That could actually be a fun tv show: have star athletes try out different sports to see how they do. With a show like that, maybe we’d finally get our answer to the question of what LeBron James could run for a mile or 5K.
Kipchoge once benched 215 then defeated Matt London in a head to head 10 meter sprint after 1 minute rest. It's his greatest athletic achievement; I don't know why it isn't more well known.

Remember back in the day they had "Superstars" which included an 800m for the men and 400m for the women? I recall that Navratilova ran around 60 flat in the 400. It seems like one of the soccer stars of the time ran around 2 flat for the 800.

Yeah, I also remember a couple of football players going for the "4 minute half-mile", as the announcers pointed out. Renaldo Nehemiah was awesome on the obstacle course, though. And one year they had swimming, and Greg Louganis was one of the contestants, which was kind of fun.
1.3x body weight requires specific training. Do you think your typical 180 pound man can bench 235? I'd be more interested to see how many pull-ups he could manage.
I'm a 5'8", 125lb competitive distance runner. I tried to bench-press my bodyweight during the off-season out of curiosity. I could probably do a few reps at 50kg (110lb) and I barely managed 1 rep at 100% bodyweight, 125lb (57kg). There's absolutely 0% chance I could bench 1.3x bodyweight (162 lb for me). I probably couldn't even get it off the bench.
