I currently can run a mile in 8:30. I have a running background. I use to run a 5min mile. I just have not done anything in 10 years. I just started my diet today as I am 30Lbs over weight. My plan is to lose 20lbs(2lbs/week) by race day. A 3000M race on a super flat dirt track. No elevation gain and USATaF certified.
I only want to do it if I can run it in 14min(7:30/pace) give or take 15/sec/mile. Is this achieve-able in the next 10 weeks of training? I read for every 1lb you lose, you improve 2.4seconds per mile for the 3k. So 20lbs would 48seconds for mile 1 and then some extra for the .864mi.
