I started to post my Sunday run on social media to make it a group run. I had the following in mind for this:
- Not change the start hour from one week to another so it can be predictible to people.
- The run should be early morning so everyone can do their chores after.
- The location is a local park to be accesible and safe for everyone.
Every week there are 5-10 (sometimes more) people showing up for the run regardless of weather. I started to receive suggestions (some of them from entitled people):
- One guy that no longer runs wrote a message to question me about the start hour being too early (I know that the guy has a habbit of waking up late).
- Another guy said that the pace is too slow. Basically he wanted me and whoever can to run at his pace but he is not willing to run easier to keep the group compact.
- Two women that are attending in average one per month said to me on separate occasions to switch the run on trails on the forrest. They are not quite in shape for the demands of a run in forrest and when I suggested that we can do a group run in forrest on another day (not recurring) they didn't like it.
- Some guys that I knew started to push for another hour (late morning). Those guys were running togheter privately (messagins eachother) and started to attend the group run maybe once per month. The funny thing is that that they are 2-3 weeks per month out of town so regardless of hour they cannot attend.
- One women suggested that the run should be in the evening.
