I have a good friend (who is also a 45-49 age grouper) who has run between 2:37 and 2:42 for all of them. But he just a regular human being and didn't even run much until his 30s.
I am, of course, in absolute awe of Kawauchi (who I believe is clean), but it is also cool to have a friend and neighbor who has done all these races and crushes each of them. Plus he's super nice...
p.s. He is also not doping. So there's that.
