This video is pretty insane, I haven\'t looked for results for this meet but it looks pretty legit. A friend of mine sent it to me.

I can not get the link to work.
great jump no doubt! But he is not new to the sport obviously. With that form, he has had some coaching ....if not a lot!
The video is doctored. I saw the orignal video, it was the Burger King who actually does this jump.

Are you kidding me? You think he has had a lot of coaching? That is the worst HJ form I've seen in my life for a 7' 3.5" jump. He sits over the bar...nearly breaks his arms on impact because his arms are under him...His head is up as he clears the bar... His approach is unorthodox to say the least. Goodness, you obviously have no idea what proper HJ form actually is! I call BS detector on you.
He's in Nike Shox! Wow! I here he plays on the JV basketball team and his friend saw him jump over a guy to dunk the ball one day and told him he should try HJing. The end result is his 7'3+ clearance in his first meet. His coach stop him jumping after clearing this height out of fear he would hurt himself. Only time will tell what he can really do. With great coaching he might junst go.......... 7'01"
I am a head coach of a school at that meet. He was in his first meet, and he had on running shoes. His four attempts at heights over 7', all were from a differnt mark. He would just start running, adjust his step about 4 steps out, and jump. He could of kept jumping, but the whole meet had stopped to witness these jumps, and the coach just told him to quit on his last make. He had a good three inches of clearance on that jump.
this is more amazing than people kbow. this guy has world champ writen all over him if he can be coached.
I notice in the video he damn near misses the pit. Coming down from 7' and landing on your back on the floor would not be fun. Hopefully his coach knows enough to at least keep him on the pad when he comes down.
I missed the pit (the school used a gynmasics mat) at a indoor meet, landed on a gym floor, skidded on my back and hit the wall. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper.
Derias,
While not perfect, that form is better than most high school athletes you will see at any state meet in the country. Please tell me which school you coach at so we can all see how it's done right.
Shenley,
You from Pittsburg? Besides, who said anything about a "typical hs athletes form"? I personally have never seen a high school jumper go 7'03.25", but I've watched a lot of film of college and post college guys that have. I stand by my word, it's the worst form I have ever seen for a 7'03"+ jump. You said he has had a lot of coaching, and I'm saying his form is terrible, and that is a compliment for a man that jumps as high as he did.
You call "BS" and don't even use your name. I've listed my name, I'm easy enough to find. It seems you are jealous of a man stepping out on the 3rd day of his track career in Nike Shox and basketball shorts hitting the World Championship mark. You are a typical poster, you try to tear others down to make your own pathetic life seem better. Go away. This young man has a lot of potential...something you only wish you had.
If you can read Swedish(see link) you'll read the Kajsa's coach said that Thomsa is clearly a talent but there are many things he'd change about his form, and that he "half sits" over the bar.
I think a coach of Kajsa would know a thing or two about form.
He reminds me of a guy I used to jump against in HS. The guy was always within 2'' of me at every meet even though I had little talent and he had world class talent. If I'd jump 6'02'' he'd jump 6'04'', if I jumped 6'04'' he'd jump 6'06'', I never saw him jump over 6'06''. He won indoor state as a senior jumping 6'02'' (the facilities sucked something awful). He goes off to a mediocre at best D1 school and ends up jumping 7'05'' before graduating, absolutely nuts. There are tons of guys that are like that in HS, this Lindenwood guy happens to be a guy that does it and still produces great results. This guy from Lindenwood could jump 7'10'' within the near future.
bump
For two days out he does a lot of things right "naturally".
