I've been averaging mileage in the mid-80's for the last 9 weeks, with a high of 102, and a low of 70 (illness). This weekend, I may be running an all-out 800 as part of a relay. According to recent races, and the usual calculators, I'm on pace for a 2:01 - 2:02. I just don't know if that's realistic. I haven't run a track workout in a year and a half. I've done weekly hill workouts, along with a weekly fartlek or tempo run. None of this trains me for running a decent 800, though. I just ran a long race (16m) equivalent to about a 1:26:30 for 25k. Anyone else go through this kind of training and then try to bust an 800? How'd it go? Also, should I just go all-out for as long as I can, or would I be better off pacing myself through this? Thanks!
