Why didn't he ask about adidas paying him to race in Nike? I mean, is this a new thing? "We'll give you an apparel-only contract. We don't care what shoes you wear. You can negotiate a different contract for that" I guess Oiselle started the trend.
I remember this struck me last year watching him on TV. There he was with an adidas outfit and Nike shoes. I noticed it, which means a bunch of people watching these events worldwide noticed it, too. The picture you put up on the front page reminded me of that: oh yeah, the guy paid by one shoe brand but wears another. At least Norris (and OAC) cut the swoosh off.
In the biggest meet of the year, he had a Nike (USATF) outfit and Nike shoes. No adidas representation visible on him at all. The picture (with the flag) in the article reminded me of that. If I hadn't seen him run other meets throughout the year, I'd have assumed he was paid by Nike. Don't some of you remember Moen getting caught wearing Nike and fired by asics? And this guy's doing it on TV.
If I'm the reporter, it's the first topic getting covered, especially with his agency (apparently the greatest ever to pull off a situation such as this) there to discuss it further.
