Before you say it, I know I shouldn't run my easy runs fast! But whatever, it's fun! I'm not on a team anymore, don't have any races on the schedule, and sometimes after work I just want to hammer out a 3-8 mile run for the helluvit. So question is: what's the best shoe? Don't want to drop the cash on a pair of Alpha or Vaporflys because they'll be trashed too soon. Used to use the ZoomFly 1s but those are ridden into the ground and I've heard the subsequent models just aint it.
No hating here… I love this type of shoe.
- Zoom Flys are fine… kinda bulky but can get them for cheap. Check out Streakflys for a lot lighter and closer to a Vaporflys.
- ASICS Superblast (or Novablast if you want a more budget one). Super cushioned but surprisingly light
- New Balance Rebel - shoe must be designed for this purpose
- Saucony Endorphin Speed - more or a workout shoe but really can be used as a daily trainer too
Thanks! Tried Streakflys but think something like the zoom flys or endorphins might be perfect for me. Rebel's been on my radar for a while but superblast are news to me.

Endo speed is the answer, especially when you can regularly nab last gen / old color ways for under $100. Very hard to run easy in that shoe.
Edit: I'll also throw out the Atreyu base model here. Great shoe for cranking through 5-7 mile doubles midday when your blood sugar is up.
I have heard there is a huge difference between v1/2 and v3. Almost a total makeover. V1/2 is more geared towards speed whereas v3 is more bulky/soft n more geared as a daily trainer workhorse. I only have v1. It favors speed. Perfect for tempo runs/sessions.

v3 is more stable and softer. Both will work for "too fast easy runs"

OG peg turbos were some of my favorites for turning up the pace on a regular but are the new ones any good?
You recommend i get the v3 in addition to the v1? Or should i first use up the v1 (only got 50 miles on them)? I use nb Rebel v2 as a daily trainer.

I like the endo speed and actually just finished a workout in them. True about the $ and about "hard to run easy in that shoe." But I wouldn't want to wear them frequently, which seems like what OP is hinting at (in spite of the word "sometimes"), even if it seems like never more than 8 miles. Wearing them for one workout a week is plenty for me.
I just recently got Clifton 8s and love them, I go too fast in them, I must wait for them to wear out before going any slower in them LOL. Same for Air Peg 39 shoes. Must try to overcome sticker shock to get some shoes cushier than these...I'm spending money I should not spend toward running shoes, sigh...
