Last year in track I was more focused on 800 meters, and now this season I will be running more 400 meter races based on my 400 being slightly better than 800.
I know that for more distance races like in XC, you don't want to have that many races in a season (3-6 races in a season), and you should periodize your best race. However, idk how or if that applies to sprint event like 400 meters, or its like I can race as many as I want, or I should be cautious as to not over race.
To avoid injury and improve the most, how often should I race in a high school spring season if I want to peak by early-mid June, for 400 meters?
