I'm pretty surprised that the Brojos didn't know about it. Trials of Miles has consistently been putting on some great events in track, cross country, and the roads. Cade Flatt tried to chase the HS 800 record at their meet last year. They were the ones behind Cross Champs in 2021. It's kind of hard to not know who they are at this point...
Way to have your finger on the pulse of the sport, sport.
While I don't necessarily disagree with this statement, our sport is so disjointed, its not hard to see how an event like this misses the BroJo's radar. Obviously, people knew about it. Would it have hurt to have more publicity?
It was pretty well advertised. rojo is too busy preparing his latest anti-trans screed.
Trials of Miles does an excellent job with this event. It's been held every year since 2020. Yes, the Covid year. One of the first LDR events to have a COVID protocol.
Nathan Martin, blue collar hero among MB posters. No wonder this flew under the radar of the LRC cognoscenti.
7 qualifiers out of this field, with no appearance fees. Hats off to the organizers, that's pretty good for this type of event. Will there be another one in the fall?
McKirdy is putting something on in the fall, I believe. Low key, directed to qualifiers, marathon length.
ToM puts on great events. I ran one of their track 5ks last summer and I was very impressed with their organization. I believe they also produced NBNI this year, since New Balance lacks their own team with any experience organizing track meets after parting ways with the Armory.
If you go to their website, it says that they'll be holding this event in 2024. The entry standards were 1:10 for men and 1:20 for women, but I know a handful of guys in the field who were accepted with slower PRs, so there appears to be some wiggle room. I'm planning to chase sub-70 over the next year, and this is the race I'll be targeting next spring.
To be fair, it looks like they've updated the link post event, so, yeah. Perfectly flat loop, a lot of pacers, guaranteed competition.
Trials of Miles started out putting on virtual races during COVID, but has branched into "real" events. They've hosted track meets across the US and still do a virtual "Chase the Throne" virtual series that has gotten traction.
You also literally interviewed Alex Burks when he ran a marathon at one of their races in 2021 on this exact loop.
Believe new balance contracted NBNI out to them and it was a trials of miles ran event just covered in NB branding
