def is if u put together a solid summer full of training. My pr last track szn was 9:53 and i ended up running 16:00 in xc later that year. that summer i did around 8 weeks at 60+ miles and i did tempo and fartlek every week. get in a good base over the summer and you'll be fine. best of luck!
yes
Yes, if you train well!
Ran 9:40 and 15:55. Admittedly, I only ran in tough courses and ran 40 mpw the summer before, but you can’t
Sub 10 does not equal Sub 16. It is pretty close but not equal. Of course then you have to look at different XC courses. Sub 10 equal slightly over 16 on a track. So technically XC should be slower than that. But, some courses are short and easy. That being said, it would definitely be possible for someone to continue to improve and run both of those times.
Yes, if you go sub 10 it may be possible for you to break 16 in XC. At your age, you're probably going to get a performance bump from getting a year older and physically more mature. Of course, as others here have mentioned, you must train consistently (and intelligently) through the summer to achieve your goal.
In track, try not to focus entirely on the 3200. Improving your mile (and 800) will improve your 3200 time. To break 10 for 3200, your mile time will probably have to be 4:40 or faster. If possible, even try to run a leg of the 4x4. That's a lot of fun, and will also improve efficiency at all of your race distances.
Finally, in XC, Do Not Focus on Time! Your fastest times will come if you focus on competing to the best of your ability. If you concentrate on achieving the best possible place you can, you'll run your fastest and also enjoy it more!
Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do, no matter how smart they seem or what kinds of calculations they show you. An individual's development is unpredictable and, to be honest, highly dependent on how much YOU believe you can do.
Train smart and be consistent. Be mentally tough and don't give up.
