I don’t think most of the kids mentioned so far would qualify as people to keep an eye on for big things next year. (Obviously some of them do, but most don’t.) The fastest 6th grader this year has run a 4:41 mile and a 9:52 2-mile. A runner should probably be faster than that as an 8th grader to warrant discussion here.

I think Milesplit has tagged the incorrect Miles Fischer. Based on times, this appears to be the Miles Fischer (a senior from Cloquet) who ran at Heartland, not the 8th grader from Hill-Murray:
