Background: 26 years old. Focused on the 1500/800 in college (PRs were 4:07/1:59). I was pretty garbage at cross country by comparison, only managed to crack 27:00 a couple of times. I didn't really train for about three years after college, then I made my half debut in the fall of 2021, running 1:17 in my first real race back. This past weekend, I ran 1:12:10 in my third attempt at the half, which was a three minute PR (completely flat course, great weather, etc).
My question is how much more upside do I have here? I was looking at the scoring tables and my half is now roughly in line with my track PRs, so I imagine I could be hitting diminishing returns soon. On the other hand, I feel like I might have found my best distance with how these races have been feeling, and I know there's usually more room to improve with the longer stuff. I've been running 55-60 mpw lately, which is the first time I've been over 50 consistently since college. Is 69 minutes something that I could be capable of down the line?
