This is the thing about her second act that bothers me most. Running a 3:55 marathon is perfectly fine for an elite to do. But no one should get paid for a 3:55 marathon and take resources away from elites if they are not able or planning to compete at that level.
Also, I'm sorry but the whole thing is just tiring. I don't find it empowering, or helpful to anyone. She's just a running influencer like Matt Choi, claiming to inspire others to do the sport but really just trying to bring attention to herself since she can no longer do it by working hard and competing at an elite level.
So, it looks like she just ran with a friend. Mind you, a celebrity friend (Diplo is an electronic music artist/producer) which is helpful for social media likes I guess but a friend nonetheless. I think she could run faster if she wanted, but at the end of the day I don't think she really cares to. She's just an influencer nowadays and her competitive running career is a thing of the past.
Bro on what planet does this make *any* sense at all. She literally lives in LA… so your complaint is that they somehow flew her into her own town(??) at the expense of some random other athlete(????) please at least attempt to use your brain before you post, thanks.
What are you even talking about?? Who said she’s getting paid and “taking resources from elites” ?? You’re just making up an imaginary scenario to be mad about - pathetic.

Get out of here with that bulls**t! Someone having fun being mediocre doesn't degrade your "excellence". Or, are you the stereotypical angry running dork that needs the validation of others to feel seen? Are you the guy that storms off in a huff when a chubby co-worker gets praised for walking a 5K and getting healthier but no one gushed over your sub-15:00 Trukey Trot win?
Fat people have a disease. You are what is wrong with America.
It's legit inspiring when a fat person runs far. When your deeeby pencil-necked coworker runs the same distance, it's not.
If you want recognition from random normies for your athletic accomplishments, do a sport people actually care about and respect, like climbing, ultimate frisbee, or triathlons.
She did this in NYC too, after lining up with the elites for max exposure.
Running around in that outfit, mugging for cameras, and taking selfies is simply disrespectful to the people around her who have trained hard and are taking the thing seriously. You know, like SHE used to. She is now a shameless parasite on the body of the thing that gave her whatever notoriety she now enjoys-- competitive running. What she's doing is fine for anyone who never took the sport seriously in the first place. For her, it's deplorable. If you're making that big a deal out of now being out of the sport, stay the f-ck out. All they way out. Find some other way to get attention. Maybe one that requires some actual talent.
This is her new ‘thing’. Gets accepted into the elite fields, gets comped lodging and some travel assistance (all while a truly deserving athlete gets dropped off the list for assistance) then starts with the elites and run 8min pace while hamming it up.
Sick of her BS.
100% looks like she ran/paced a friend. Anyways, what is the evidence she is taking an entrance fee then tanking races on purpose ?
She did have an elite bib and was listed in the elite results, not open women.
Hmm, so she has an elite bib, but according to one of her Instagram stories she was lined up with Diplo st the beginning. The question becomes: why did the race issue her an elite bib...in what basis did she get it? Did she bump someone else from getting one? Why do races give her these bibs these days?

That's my only problem with it. She probably just wanted a comped entry. Meanwhile they probably had a limited elite field and someone was turned down as a result. If you're going to hobby jog pay for a bib like everyone else. Or better yet, use your "influencer" status to have a sponsor pay for your bib. Guess that would be too much work compared to emailing the race director for the elite field though 🙄

Y'all are taking the LA Marathon women's elite field awfully seriously. Did any of you even bother to look up the results before you got on your soap boxes?
Any woman with a sub-3:00 was eligible for the pro field. It was a just a comped entry. She didn’t take anything away from anyone.
Yeah, it feels like this one is a stretch even for the Pappas-haters. She's all dolled up in her best look-at-me garb as usual, and she's got her phone with her to take 100 selfies so she an post the 6 or 7 ones most likely to grab attention on socials, but that's just standard stuff in the Instagram Era. If her PR gets her an elite bib the same as it would for anyone else in the time range specified by the rules, it's not a big deal even if she doesn't go all out in the race.
She's done at least 100 more annoying things than jog with a celebrity wearing a bib that her PR legitimately earns her. She's definitely a clown, but you'd hardly know it from this event.

This looks a lot like Alexi Pappas Obsession Syndrome (APOS). Its primary symptom is caring at all about what Alexi Pappas is doing while not being her spouse, a family member, or her primary care physician. Whenever you suffer a sudden flare-up, just go outside, take ten deep breaths, and interact kindly with a real person who cares about you--but do NOT talk about Alexi Pappas, as this is likely to aggravate the emotional inflammation.
I don't mean to be patronizing, but seriously. You are really over-invested in this.

I was fat. Now I’m not. The only disease I had was a habit of watching TV and eating Oreos.
