Do you ever have dreams that for some reason you can run another year on your schools team and your team wants you to run?
I still have this dream and haven’t been on a team in many years and I sucked. but in my dream I was going to train better and the team was going to be good.
I used to dream that my old HS team needed me to run, but I was horribly out of shape.
Then I got back to running as an adult, set new running goals and achieved them instead of regretting my HS failures, and that dream rarely occurs anymore.

I never have dreams about running.
covid really screwed me over. That one extra year of racing as a sophomore would have made me so much better by the end of my high school career. Luckily now I have the motivation to never waste any more time when it comes to training and cherish every opportunity to race.

I still occasionally get this recurring dream that somehow I get an extra year in high school; think I'm going to be the very best; but discover early in the race (the 800 of course), that somehow I'm just not as fit as the year before. Maybe once every few years, and I'm getting pretty old. It's a good dream, until the part where it isn't.
I spent one year injured, so technically I did have one year left of eligibility. I had the dream frequently, but not so much now, 30 years later.
Definitely have the dream where my old teams need me for some important meet, and I have not been training at all.
They convince me it’ll all work out and then I suck and blow a relay or CC.
I used to dream that somehow I could get on a college team that I quit 45 years ago. the coach and young guys would shrug their shoulders and say ,” well, if he wants to try…..”.
In this dream I am super dedicated and motivated for training and making the team and adjusting my real life for this goofy challenge.
I’m 60 and have dreams like this, where I’m back on my college team or in HS either for track or soccer which I played for a few years too. I’m always much younger than in reality in these dreams, but it almost always also entails that I knew I was needed for the meet/game months in advance but slacked off instead of training and now I’m stressed about not being able to compete, or else I’m actually in the race but have cement legs and can’t get going. One day I’ll dream of going back to school and actually winning the race… and then presumably be exposed as the most obvious age cheat in the history of the world. It’ll have to wind up as a nightmare somehow since the others all do.
