Somehow this post is even more classic basement-dwelling Letsrun than the previous one. Conversions and high school glory, tearing down the accomplishments of a global medalist, on a thread about her traumatic experience with sexual assault.

I disagree with your point of view, but 9:00-mids is a good 3200 time. 14:30s was in range.
under the gun, I'd say I believe her. Still, it's nowhere near a certainty and without other accusers or some journals, texts, emails, etc. to back this up from that time frame, it is tough to justify a lifetime ban, imo. Anybody could say this about anyone.
Again, I honestly do believe her, but there is certainly room for reasonable doubt here.
I also find it interesting that Alberto hasn't publicly defended himself.
i think safesport is good, but probably wields a bit too much power in the end.

"Beyond a reasonable doubt" is the standard for a criminal case. It's not the standard for a civil trial or for safesport.
It didn't need to be proven BRD unless Salazar was charged with sexual assault/ abuse and the case was put forward to a finder of fact.

this wouldn't even fly in a civil court. She never told anybody close to the time period it happened, he doesn't have a history of doing it with other people (at least not yet), and she didn't write about it anywhere during the time frame.

The fact that the allegations are covered in a published book and backed up in a televised media tour (and probably more coverage to come) tells me that there is truth here. No publisher is going to put such a volume out without very thorough vetting and fact checking. If these allegations and statements are lies, then Salazar's lawyers will have multiple lawsuits filed by this time tomorrow morning.
I don't have this much confidence in the vetting procedures used by the media, even though I have no reason to doubt the allegations. I just think the old joke about "story on page 1, retraction next month on page 37" holds true too often to believe these allegations solely because the media ran them, I'm basing my belief on other things.
As someone who was an employee and mandated reporter at my university I can tell you that Title IX offices more often fail to protect and advocate for survivors and leave their assaulters free to continue walking about campus consequence free than not
