I have been out with a sacral stress fracture for 6 weeks now. It was never excruciating pain, I actually could have run through it (but obviously that would be really dumb).
I can walk for 30 minutes without pain, I can hop, put my pants on, do a single-legged squat, etc. I have been cross training on the elliptical, which also doesn’t hurt. Nothing really hurts.
Except, rolling onto the spot (even on carpet) feels really tender which worries me a little. The other side of my sacrum isn’t like that when I do the same motion. When I press with my fingers, it doesn’t hurt. Just lying on the area.
My PT thinks I could try running at 6 weeks, so now, starting with 5x2 min jog/1 min walk. I want to get back to running, but want to be careful too.
How long did you take off? Does 6 weeks sound like enough for a (not severe) sacral stress fracture? Is it healed if I can hop and have no pain? Is it not healed if when lying on it, it still feels tender? Basically, how did you know you were ready to run?
