I recently ran times of 56.38/4:49.87. Do you guys think 2:06 is a reasonable goal and if not what would be?

I knew a 56/5:20 guy who ran 2:06
so it's possible but it would be useful to know some recent workouts
I wish I could remember my workout splits lol
I’ll try and ask my coach
For sure a reasonable goal. I split a 2:04 by the end of my freshman year, and I wasn't in as good shape as you are now at this point in the season. Honestly you probably aren't that far off of 2:06 shape right now with your 400 and mile times.
I ran low 207 off almost identical 400/mile times.
That looks like a good indication for sub 2:10, I guarantee you’ll improve throughout the season though, so I think 2:05 or so is a great goal, and will set you up to break 2:00 soph/jr year
Not trying to put your opinion down in anyway, but do you think those times are indicative of 2:09 at this moment?
By the way when I say 2:06 I mean under 2:07 and possibly this Saturday. The times I wrote were from the last two weekends.

I think they definitely indicate sub 209 at this moment. Sub 207 is possible.

Those were almost exactly my times when I ran 2:06. (I was a true 800 guy, with 600/800 by far being my best events. Sounds like you're the same!)
Good luck!
Thanks for the response! I’ll let everyone know what I run on Saturday.
I would put you at 2:08 personally I dont know about 2:06 this week unless you go off or improve a lot as freshmen tend to do
I tried using the formula 1.21(400m)+0.2(1600m) and it came out to 2:06. It worked for a most guys on the the team, including the two fastest who run 1:55 and 1:56. Does it only work for a certain range or something?

Yes, sub 2:10 means at least 2:09 :)
With those times I think it would be a struggle unless you nailed the pacing, you should aim for sub 2:10 to begin with. If you run 2:09 as your opener you'll be able to shave down to 2:06.
Pacing will not be a problem. I have a fast friend who is going to pace me to (1:02 high) so I can try to go for (sub 2:08). I have readjusted my goal to sub 2:08 and I’m sure I can accomplish it with good pacing.
by the way I am the person who started this thread I just keep forgetting to post anonymously
2:07.78
(1:02.6, 1:05.1)

Well done! Those are just about ideal splits.
