Ok, now just go and convince 95% of the world to switch over to the system used in the USA, Liberia, and Myanmar which are the only countries in the world to fully use a non-metric system.
The mile is a measure of distance while the kilometer is a measure of length. Two totally different things and you can't really compare the utility of the two. It's like arguing about whether a hammer or a screwdriver is a better tool.

And the UK?
"fully use a non-metric system". The UK uses a bit of both plus some other units that are only used in the UK.
I have raced a bunch of marathons in Europe and I like getting feedback every 1km. When you are bonking, waiting +7-8 minutes for a split sucks. If your wheels are coming off, that next mile split is like an hour away. But with kilometers, you get feedback every four minutes. It is much easier to "reset" and get back on pace after a 1km split. I like them.
