Not to be cynical, and maybe he had good acceleration on the straight but that didn’t look “smooth” or to be in the realm of 22.x. I’d think that was a 24 low or MAYBE a 23 high.
So the the cross country national champion that only ran like a 4:06 mile last week is now ready to break a ridiculously good 800m record?
Sure.
Aaron tends to race pretty up and down. He ran 1:53 at new balance indoors last year than 1:48 a week later. That being said I don’t think he’ll run 1:46 this year, but he’s got some legit wheels and may go 1:47, which is incredible for an NXN champ.
He needs to watch Granville, Brazier, Symmonds, Wottle, Gray, Webb, Coe, Ovett, Cram, Rudisha, Kipketer, Mahkloufi races over and over. Watch their splits, strategies, wins.

Interesting that you mention Nick Symmonds but not Duane Solomon.

There are plenty that didn't get a mention. Name some names and post some links. Or complain.
Many on here analyzing the workout but few interpreting the music. "Hit that pill turn me to a superhero!?!" Is Aaron Sahlman doping?!?! He may well also be "drankin dope" and "be in that flow again" but only time will tell.
