After years of super soft/wimpy training, feels like Americans have finally begun returning to training like animals the way guys did in the 60s and 70s. Just not as many breaking down thanks to the foam/technology

Where are the 3:27 and 3:26 guys? Since the top times in the 1500, for example, haven't gotten any faster, a corollary to the idea that superspikes massively improve times is that depth in the 15 has had a massive decline at the top that just so happened to coincide exactly with release of superspikes. This decline is much worse in the 800, as times have gotten noticeably slower than before the release of superspikes. Sad.
Not sure if it has been mentioned already in this thread, but T&FN reconsidered, and are now keeping track of the sub-4s again.
Actually, guys in 2016 were running times light-years ahead of guys in the 60s and 70s. And now guys in ‘22 and currently are running light years ahead of what they ran in 2016. What changed?
So when someone runs 8 seconds faster this year than last, at the same meet, is it because super shoes just came out this year?
Sub 3:50 should be the (new) American gold standard. That'll separate the schoolboys from the men.
