i am a 15 year old hs female with some running background but not much.
my PRs(indoors) with out to much training(more anaerobic) are:
400- high 68s
600- 1:55
1000(ran once)- 3:35
my first really important 800m race is early july.
Training (lydiard influenced):
after some downtime from indoors i will build up some mileage but not too much. One session of AnCI and one of shorter sprints(both full recovery)+ one long run + easy mileage on other days with some strides mixed in during the base phase. about 7-9 weeks
then i will have a phase of strength building workouts. a sample week here may be:
mon- rest or easy miles
tues- fartlek
wend- easy miles + AnCI
thurs- lydiard hill workout
fri- 6-8 miles comfortable but not too easy
sat- sprint training or tuesdays workout or thursdays workout
sun- long run (pretty easy)
this will last about 4 weeks
next an anaerobic condtioning phase, sample week may be:
mon- same as above
tues- lactate tolerance OR time trial + some intervals
wend- easy recovery
thurs- AnCI with some easy miles- focus on economy
fri- recovery
sat- sprint training OR 800m repeats on grass
sun- long run
about 4 weeks
then i will have some time to peak for my races.
