Usually Sirius when I'm in the car but sometimes Spotify, Amazon, or CDs.
Usually Sirius, Amazon, or Spotify when I'm in the basement working out. Sometimes Pandora. I use the free version of Pandora and it used to be OK because they would play 5-6 songs without a commercial. It sucks now because they play one song and then a commercial. Use a bluetooth speaker when I'm in the basement so sometimes I'll cue up some vinyl on my turntable and play it through bluetooth to my downstairs speaker.
When up in the house I listen almost exclusively to vinyl. The quality of good vinyl with no scratches beat the quality of CDs or digital music hands down.
I've been trying to get my vinyl collection built back up. I used to have a great one but when I went away to school I left it at my parents house. My dad took it to Goodwill without asking me to pick them up beforehand. I had some great albums. He never apologized to me for doing it and never admitted that he did it. My mom told me that he did. It was a sore spot between us for the remainder of his life. I would have always remained upset about it but the fact that he never apologized is what upset me the most. That was probably all TMI.
I'm ticked that Amazon changed their music platform. They opened up the whole catalog but now everything is shuffled. I liked fewer albums and being able to play what I wanted. My play list were screwed as well.
Don't own a CD player or record player. Or cassette player.
Quality of YouTube or Spotify is poor compared to cds. And then the ads w/o subscription
This doesn't have to be true. With spotify premium, you can set the audio quality to very high. As a man of discerning taste and access to an unlimited data plan, this is the only option I use. There are other services, such as tidal, that give you high definition sound, which is similar to what you get on the original masters. Its nice to listen to songs on there with a good pair of headphones.
CD quality is actually not great, and definitely not the bellwether for high quality. They have to flatten the sound to save space, this means you get a more mono-type sound. This is why audiophiles love vinyl so much, its not compressed the way a cd is. Its a much richer sound.
