Should distance runners wearing speedsuits

if it were cold toward the end of XC, I'd often just race in tights and the singlet. I don't think speed suits are the way to go though except if you're sub 13

Probably. Even though not as important as at higher speeds, drag is drag. Ingebrigtsen wears one. I imagine it’s for a functional advantage, however minuscule.

It's a statement for sure. Also, can you buy a speedsuit off the rack? I've never seen one at like a Dick's Sporting Goods or even a running specialty store.

Yes distance runners should wear speedsuits as long as they are ready to walk the talk and DOMINATE. Speedsuits are the best attire for maximum performance. Lower drag, higher swag. The American 3K record was just set by a guy wearing a speedsuit. The world champion in the 5K wears a speedsuit. Speedsuits work.

My son won a 5k dressed in a full blue man outfit. No one could tell who he was. He Signed up as the Mystery Runner. He went up and got the trophy and gave it away. To this day nobody knows it was him. City Hall shows the race all the time in their promotional video with him as the Blue Man.

I personally think spandex improves energy return. Not by a lot, but by a bit.

so half tights yes, but not sure about a full speed suit. I suspect the increased heat retention from the top would offset any performance gains.
