Self promote much?
If you run 8:00, you should run 14:00...
More interested to see what type of mile Ari runs after putting on 15lbs and doing tri training for 2 years. I am thinking 4:10 will be impressive....
all this wasted time and energy for 14 min…
Been watching a few of his videos over the last week. Honestly, I don't think he's going to achieve any of his goals. Last year it was 3:37 for the 1500. I think he got down to 3:45. This year he's jumping to the 5000 and wants to break 14. He just doesn't look that impressive in workouts. He even stated that he hasn't PR'd in the mile in four years.
Didn't this board discuss his atrocious diet a few days ago?
I'm not a model eater myself, but if I was totally committed to an ambitious goal, I'd eat and sleep better than I do.
I'm more interested in Ali's content these days, but don't watch much of it anyway - maybe a video a month.
Last Special Athlete episode I clicked on was when he was still at Georgetown.
give it another year or two and then move on wrote:

He picked a softer goal this year, so that's a plus.

Well his message in that video was to eat enough, even if that means some junk here and there

If at first you don’t succeed, lower expectations until you do.
He's just grasping for content at this point. Kincaid is killing it at age 30. Spencer is 25 and put about as much effort into running as I do and I work 2 jobs.
Spencer is lazy and entitled.
I think that year w Brookes showed him how hard it is to be on a pro level and how he’s nowhere near it.
pretty obvious at this point spencer just runs to keep his channel up for $$ so he doesn’t have to work an actual job.
So his response to this ambitious new goal is to...continue running 45-50 miles/week? But now he is in the gym lifting with Will. Yeah, sounds like a winning plan.

so that means:
(1) he won't break 14. He'll break 15 but not 14
(2) he will absolutely stress about it
We are a cynical bunch!
Hope you make your goal Athlete Special.

That we are!
Hey, I hope he does make his goal but really, I don't see it happening.
If he breaks 14, that won't even make him sub-elite. The young man NEEDS to get a jobby job. GET A JERB!!!!
How much lamer of a goal can you set? The guy ran 3:39 1500m in college. I like Spencer (we've acknowledged each other in real life ..), but if he's serious he should run 13:30, no kidding.

oh brother
So he's "chasing" a time that is 30 seconds below what he would've run when in shape?
If Ari breaks 4 and Spencer doesn't crack 14, I will laugh my ass off.
It will most likely be the other way around, but good luck I guess.
