I like a lot of the BTC athletes, but Jerry is just so unlikeable to me. With the nandrolone stuff and the tight leash he keeps on all his runners with racing and media, not a fan. Good for Woody, super impressive to do this largely off solo training

Woody made it clear that he was upset about the move to Eugene and also the possibility of being a lesser priority due to Jerry coaching the Ducks. Woody also mentioned the Shelby situation almost as if it is a dark cloud still hanging over the team.

Woody praised Mike Smith generously. Maybe Woody just wants to feel wanted and not taken for granted. That is understandable.

Doubtful ON wanted another American on the team that is such a rival to Klecker.

I feel like the move to Eugene (from Portland) has been a real deal-breaker for many of the athletes. The problems associated with the Shelby case were bad enough, but moving to Eugene has caused a mini-exodus, hasn't it? I have talked to several people who have made it clear that this was just too much of a change when combined with Jerry's new role at UO.

Mike Smith was not the creator of double threshold, nor is he the best at implementing it. He gets the best athletes, that's all. Woody did 99% of his training for this before going to Smith, so Smith gets very little credit for it.

Maybe Mike doesn’t get much credit for the 12:51 but maybe he is more likely to get the most out of Woody. Maybe Woody is not too impressed with Jerry anymore.

Have you met the guy? And it's not as if he pushed Woody away deliberately. Rather, he wanted to continue to work with Woody.

Could not agree more with you. Woody was off handedly providing more candid information about himself and life with Bowerman than your likely to hear in the next 100 interviews with Fisher. This is a guy who no longer gives a sh-t about being political. Telling us that Jerry told him he was throwing his career away! That’s some really juicy stuff. Clearly there was a major rebellion over Eugene and over Shelby. Woody said it all with out malice, just matter of fact. Bottom line, needed a change of scenery for a variety of reasons and he took matters into his own hands. You know who gets credit for the 12:51? He does. Also, great interview by JG. Thank you!
