I've been having this problem with my knee that I'd appreciate some feedback. On Saturday I ran without incident, but within a minute of finishing I had this sharp, tight pain on the outside of my knee where the IT band goes into it.
I iced it, took a couple days off, and then ran again yesterday after making sure I was warmed up and loose. The same thing happened; the entire run was pain free (and believe me, I was waiting for the knee to start to hurt). Almost as soon as I finished it tightened up again.
The pain is on the outside of my knee and seems to be focused on where my IT band goes into ("underneath") my knee. It hurts especially when I bend my knee and when I go down stairs.
Does anyone have any idea what this is? I'm basically planning to take more time off, ice regularly and start a course of anti-inflammatories, but any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated.
