Not too long ago, there was a thread asking if your PR could beat any of the winning Olympic marathon times. When I looked up the times, I was quite surprised when i saw 3:28:53 for 1904. then someone mentioned just how insane that race was.
One of my other interested outside of running is true crime, so I was excited to see that a recent episode of the My Favorite Murder podcast was covering Felix de la Caridad Carvajal, who placed 4th that year. No, no one got murdered in this story, but wow did he live an interesting life. If you just want to listen to the part about him, it starts around the 35:40 mark (on Spotify).
