Saw a girl on our team run this yesterday:
800, 300 (x4)
She ran 2:30 on the 800s and 51-52 on the 300s. 100 meter jog for everything. After for fun, ran a couple 200s in 30.
We think she can easily break 5:00. Maybe by a lot. Concur?

That's a very impressive workout for a HS girl. She should break 5 for 1600m easily and the real question is whether she can break 4:40.

So she did 800 (100jog) 300 (100jog) x 4; (100jog) 200 (100jog) 200. is that correct? As that is what YOU wrote. Did she do it alone, or running with/chasing others? That is 4800m of specific work (assume the 100jog was about 45sec) plus 10x 100 jogs = 5800m without stopping. That is impressive - likely 800's at 3200 pace, 300's at 1600 pace. So about 10 minutes for 3200 (75) and 4.36 (69) for 1600. I assume that she has previously raced approximately these times, or why is she training at that intensity?
This was a favorite Dellinger workout back in the day, although he did more volume (5-6 reps) with 200 and 300m jogs (not 100m) and the session was run as a cutdown. 100m seems a bit short for a HS girl (or boy) with this relative intensity.

Concur. By a lot.
When I was in 10:00 shape, this would have been almost a race effort. I'd only be able to run this comfortably when I was running 9:20. I know I'm less aerobically developed and I'm male, but she should be pushing the 10:00 barrier
