A Colorado professor believes Astrophysics is steeped in systemic racism and white supremacy and wants to change how physics is being taught and foster an inclusive environment.
Around 4 years ago there was that first photo of the event horizon of a black hole. I was watching the press conference and the chief scientist said something along the lines of
"This is a big moment, -- not only for scientists -- but for fans of black holes everywhere"
Ahhh, nothing better than the smell of right winger rage over trivial things in the morning! Stay mad right wingers!
Nah, I'm not what most people would call right wing. Some of my favorite astronomical bodies are black holes.
There's no rage, dude. It's more like disappointment (with a tiny bit of chuckle) that so many people I know who are usually reasonable, seem to be persuaded by allegations of racism like this one. This one may be trivial in isolation, but all the exaggerations do add up and make for a toxic environment driven by hysteria rather than facts. The results can be destructive and dangerous.
