The warm weather brought the hot times! Like every year, the Tim Miles outdoor season magic hit at the right time. The Oles appear to "suck less" as someone said and that will make things interesting in a couple events.
My predictions:
4 x 800 -
1. St. John's wins by at least 8 seconds.
2. Carleton
3. St. Olaf
A dark horse team is St. Scholastica if they decide to run DeWall.
800m -
Johnnies go 1-2-3-4. An untied shoe by Riley prevents the 1-5 sweep.
1500m -
Llloyd's old man strength edges Nichols and "I only fast in the postseason" Mitchell Grand.
5000m -
1. Bocovich seems to have settled this argument. Maybe he'll be tired after the 10,000.
2. Bati - I've heard Kelly is likely to triple, so I think Bati breaks him again. Kelly is 0-2 for against him in MIAC champs.
3. Like a metronome, Lloyd works his way up the field and surges past a faltering Kelly.
10,000m
1. Bocovich wins, but has to run harder than he would like. With Bati & Bowman in the field he can't hope for an easy pace. He simply doesn't have their leg speed.
2. Bati - We all know whatever pace the leader runs Bati will sit on him. Will Bocovich pull him to a National Qualifier?
3. Bowman with Montressor running a 3K PR trying to draft Bowman in the first half of the race.
Steeple -
1. Kelly, but don't count Grove out. Kelly always looks like he's about to die when racing hard and he has shown he can be beat in big races.
2. Grove
3. McKee purely to give the Macalester fanboys something to talk about.
And if anyone is asking, my XC picks for next year are -
1. Carleton - a certain top five team
2. St. John's - top 25 team
3. Macalester or St. Olaf. Both figure to fight for Regional rankings.
