I'm venturing in the triathlon world and I am tempted to buy one of these. Mostly for the swim features and HR.
It looks like it measures a boat load of data but I dont really care about most of that stuff. Since I'm new to swimming and cycling I though it might help me gauge my workouts more accurately than just "swam for 30 min" "Biked for 1 hr @ ___ av. mph"
Thoughts?
I had one for years and loved it - perfect combination of features and size. But it's an oooold watch now, my battery kept getting worse and worse and was charging it almost daily when in heavy training. Finally replaced it last year with an (expensive) 955 and back to getting over a week of battery life.
So it's a good watch, but if you're buying used make sure the battery isn't shot. A new 255 (or rumored 265 coming soon) might be a better option.
I've had mine for ~ 4 years. Very solid watch, light weight and does everything it's supposed to do well. I just saw it on Target.com for $130 and I think that's a terrific price for a watch of its abilities and a cheap way to enter the fitness watch market.
It doesn't store music or have any pay features but if you don't need those features and you're just looking for a tri watch it's a great choice.
The only drawbacks I've experienced is that rarely (2x per year) it freezes while charging and doesn't seem to awaken easily and a few times it would record my last activity (store it in it's memory) but wouldn't display it on the face of the watch. Not the end of the world and these are common enough issues that a quick google search yielded a solution.
I think 935 /945 is better as it has Garmin Pay and and all the functions of the 735.
I found garmin pay very usefull as you can leave your wallet at home. This is quiet good if you do combo workouts like run/bike to the lake then swimm.
