Hi all, looking to replace my garmin forerunner 25, which just broke. All I want is a reliable gps and a distance/time. I don’t need any other features. Seems like the simplest models on the market are the garmin forerunner 45 and coros pace 2. Any recommendation?
As a fellow Joe, I can recommend the Coros Pace 2, i used a forerunner 35 for years until it broke and i swtiched to the Pace 2, its fairly simple but definitely has enough features for me, and i think the gps data is more accurate on the track when using the Pace.
I used to run in the Forerunner 35 and now have the Pace 2. I can't speak about the Garmin, but the Coros Pace 2 will meet your needs. There are some good features in it (e.g. setting up workouts, HR tracking, etc) but for basic GPS accuracy it works great. I think the Forerunner 45 is also supposed to be accurate.
If you want to learn more about the pros and cons of each model, I suggest checking out the reviews by DC Rainmaker, he does in depth testing on functionality including GPS accuracy.
Same price coros has more features although I’ve felt the HR was slightly more accurate on the garmin45. Can’t go wrong with either. Coros has a scroll to change the screen where garmin you press a button to change the watch screen. GPS good on both. Can’t go wrong with either try them both on and see.
Had the 45 for a couple years and it was ok, got a Pace 2 for Christmas. It's exceptional for the price, GPS is accurate, battery is outstanding and loves the customization options. Plus, I like the dial vs having multiples buttons on each side.
