I picked up running the spring of my junior year in highschool after covid hampered my ability to get recruited to play division I soccer. I hadn’t done any running related training in my life up until that spring. I quit soccer to focus on running following my junior season in which I ran 2:01, and 4:36. I ended up running 49.6 (4x4 split)1:54.1(4x8 split) and 4:12 1600m. I am now competing at a division I school. I ran about 30-35 miles a week in that year. Now that I am in college, I am being exposed to athletes who have been training way longer than I have, and I am doing a lot more strength related stuff than I ever did in highschool, but I am not doing particularly great compared to my teammates. I am probably one of the worst tempo runners on my team ( I usually can tempo 5 miles @ 5:25 pace ish), and while this is much much better than I could’ve done last spring when I ran the times listed above, I am still curious and slightly anxious about how I will progress. Since I am new to the sport I feel pretty ignorant and uneducated on how to evaluate it. I am curious as to if anyone would have any thoughts
