Am I ready for the Air zoom Victory?

If anyone has alternatives, please let me know.

last year I was in the same position where my twin convinced my parents to buy them, but I only ran a 4:59 at the time and it ended up making my calves sore for most of the season. My friend that’s a 5:30 guy just got the Nike Zoom Rivals though and really likes them for the 800, 1600 and 3200 so you may want to try those.

You aren't even close to being ready for the Nike Air Zoom Victory spikes. Those spikes are primarily for 800 runners who can run AT LEAST 2:10 or faster, which means 4:20 mile pace or faster. Those spikes would actually make you run slower, not faster.

Any other distance spikes would be better. If your dad wants to spend money, Nike Dragonflies are expensive but comfortable. But a cheaper Nike distance spike will be 99.5% as good.

To be honest, at this point in your running career you need to focus on getting in better shape, and not focus on spikes. Even the most expensive spikes will only make a very, very small difference for you.

The vast majority of high school distance runners are not strong enough to wear the Dragonfly or the Air Zoom Victory. They get very little benefit and greater injury risk using them. I have watched countless races where young athletes are practically scraping their inner ankle on the ground because the plate is too stiff for them.

This is an interesting situation, while I know your problem is to late to solve (it was over a year ago) I would like to say the plate in the Air Zoom Vics is stiff and the spike has an overall aggressive geometry. If you practice the Dragonflies can be a great option for above average high school distance athletes. I do think they are expensive but as long as you do basic ankle mobility and strengthening exercises and don't have any major problems with foot placement you should be fine going with the Dragonflies.
