I’m a 20 year old male in college. Every 5k I’ve ever run has been very sub-par compared to my times in other events and I’m not sure why. I average around 80 miles a week and have PR’s of 4:03 in the mile, 8:08 in the 3k, 23:38 in XC 8k and 29:54 in the XC 10k but my track PR in the 5k is only 14:20. I can compete very well in XC, high finishes at big invitationals, beating All-Americans and many sub 14 guys but I can never put it together for a 5k on the track. Every 5k I’ve run, I came through 2 miles on pace for sub 14 but then blow up and run a very slow last mile. Any advice on what this may be? Is it mental? Training? Any advice would be appreciated
