if by consistent he means that Prakel hasn't improved or gotten worse, then yes. Nobody has run 3:36 or 3:37 as many times as he has. Unfortunately he's only run 3:34 once and has never run 3:35.

He should have moved up to the 5k at least 5 years ago. He's been CONSISTENT with a 9th place finish in the Olympic Trials 1500 and 8th in the 2022 USATF championships.

If a man past age 23 is a 1500m man, he needs to race sub-3:32. Johnny Carson is no longer hosting The Tonight Show.

Prakel has a personal best of 3:34.92.

Centro ran faster than that EVERY year from 2011 through 2021 except 2020.

Your son should stop eating sugar. It will help a lot.

Awesome to read an article focusing on Sam; he really has been one of the most consistent milers…always in the final but never made a team yet.

I’ve kept an eye on him because I ran in Ohio high school xc and track the same time - he ran for tiny D3 Versailles (they say “ver-sales” here 🙄) so I never got the privilege of losing to him, but have clear memories of thinking his stride was perfect, watching at Regionals.

Yeah, I remember him smoking Clayton Murphy every time they raced. They only lived 20 miles from each other.

Sam eats sugar all the time he loves donuts. Sugar doesn't make you catch the flu. The only way sugar can hurt you is if you eat it uncontrollably in very high amounts.

Consistent at his level, a very good national class runner, but needs to pop up a notch or two to be considered "world class."
