I was thinking about getting one, wasnt sure it was as necessary, especially at the price. Thoughts? Actually useful? Waste of a crap load of money? Benefits? Useful for sprinters? Or more so long distance?

I have the most base model and I like it. It's nice doing tempos and knowing your pace, it's great when you travel and you want to know mileage.
I know they have some very expensive models, but beyond time, pace, distance I dont know what you would do with the data.
I have no idea why a sprinter would want a Garmin.
I've got one and it's incredibly helpful for data, pace, splits, time, and I've got my music on mine as well. I probably wouldn't recommend it for a sprinter per se, but I've definitely found it to be worth it.
I have one of each Marq and love them. I am a watch collector with just over $10 million invested in the collection but I want a 24x7 smart watch so the Marq is where I'm at.
I need a ring or bracelet from Garmin so I can wear some of my collection again.
Probably more for distance runners. I'm a map nerd, and like that I can see where I ran. Has freed me from running set route - can go explore and still have a good sense of the distance run.
I've had Garmin watches for many years now. They've come far enough that even the base or mid-tier models do everything you really need. A GPS watch is indispensable for long distance runners.
I like my Coros Pace 2 a lot and it is less expensive than the Garmin intro-model.
