Have 2 worn out rear tires on SUV that need replaced. The ones I got previously are no longer carried. Is it safe as far as driving goes to have front and back tires that are different brands? One other question, how bad are Chinese tires?
Thanks!!

Why would you put your life in the hands (rubber) of Chinese tires?
Get 4 decent new tires. If you can't afford them, get rid of your SUV.
It's better to have matched tires all around than not. One reason tires should be rotated regularly is so they wear out as a set.
If you're going to mix tires, the tires on any one axle should be matched brand and approximate wear. Bad things can happen at the limits of traction with mixed tires left and right under emergency braking, for instance.
I'd look less at the country of manufacture than the ratings of the particular tire. Many reputable tire manufacturers have plants in China.
Check your owners manual if you have AWD. Some AWD systems have a very low tolerance for tread wear differences between front and rear tires. But as long as the tires are the same type (all weather, snow, etc.), you generally can mix and match front and back pairs.
Invest in four new tires. Don't forget to have them rotated every 5k-10k miles.
Just get two tires similar to what you have in a different brand.
When your current tires wear down, maybe you can match brands then.
You’ll be fine.
