Please show photos of the spike plates that show spikes were screwed in. Many of us ran in XC shoes with no spikes installed.

Champs regional and national meets aren't under the California XC rules. Anyone can wear what they want.

"Champs" (AKA Footlocker) meet isn't a CIF event and doesn't have CIF rules.

Like others have said, it's not an official event sponsored by the California school system. It's sponsored by a corporation, and that corporation can make whatever rules it wants.
Many of the runners will also be wearing spikes on Saturday at the Champs National Championships in San Diego.

When I posted my response, I didn't even look at the article because I didn't think anyone who cared enough to post on the issue would be ignorant enough to not understand the difference between CIF State Championships and the various non-school Footlocker/Champs Sports, NXN, etc. races.
